Thomas R. Ruffin was born in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, on February 22, 1963. He currently resides in Clinton, Mississippi, with his wife, Stacey, and their children, Thomas Brady, Peyton Elena and Jackson Mitchell. Thomas also has two children by a previous marriage, Lindsay Nicole and Amie Michelle. Thomas earned an Associate in Applied Science degree from Hinds Community College, a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from Mississippi College and a Master of Social Science degree in administration of justice from Mississippi College. He is an adjunct professor at Mississippi College, teaching in the department of history and political science. Thomas is currently serving as a detective lieutenant with the Clinton Police Department, as the special operations group commander. Thomas is a former FBI agent, having served in Newark, New Jersey. He also served in the United States Army at Ft. Hood, Texas, and Frankfurt, Germany, as a military police investigator.
